Chris Clenshaw
Executive Producer at BBC Studios Drama Productions
Chris Clenshaw is a two-time BAFTA-winning TV producer and current Executive Producer at BBC Studios Drama Productions, where he is developing a slate of original dramas. Until 2025, Chris served as Showrunner and Executive Producer of the BBC’s flagship continuing drama EastEnders, leading the show through its 40th anniversary celebrations and overseeing 622 episodes. During his tenure, he was credited with revitalizing the series, growing audience share, and delivering “mind-blowing plot twists and devastating real-life storylines” that returned the show to “appointment viewing.”
Chris began his scripted career at the BBC in 2015 as a Trainee Storyliner for EastEnders, beating over 650 candidates to the role. He rapidly rose through the ranks to become story producer before moving on to produce Holby City. Development roles at Vertigo Films and Rope Ladder Fiction followed, as well as co-producing on ScreenSkills’ High End TV Skills Fund. His earlier career in unscripted spans various roles across multiple genres and formats, where he honed his creative and editorial expertise.
For three consecutive years, Chris has been featured in the Radio Times TV Top 100 List of “people who changed the entertainment landscape for the better,” ranking as high as 11th in 2024. Under his leadership, EastEnders won a BAFTA, RTS, TRIC, NTA, and every public-voted category at the British Soap Awards across two years. He is celebrated for bold, history-making storylines—including the award-winning “Loving & Losing Lola”, “Phil Mitchell: Hypermasculinity in Crisis”, the iconic flashforward whodunit “The Six,” and the return of fan favourite Cindy Beale—as well as for creating the first Black and dual heritage family to run a pub on any UK soap.
