In April 2022 OKRE established the Entertainment Industries Taskforce for Social Impact convening global entertainment companies to help better understand and build on the real-world impact that follows as a result of people engaging with entertainment content. Its membership includes leaders across TV, film, audio, games and social media. 

We are looking for an experienced leader in the research or impact space who can work with the members to shape and drive the work of the Taskforce. The Lead will be responsible for the strategic development of the Taskforce and ensure its outputs are of value to those working in and with the entertainment industry to address key challenges in the field.

Responsibilities

• Work with members to develop and deliver a strategy and roadmap for the Taskforce with clear objectives and timelines

• Prepare and manage quarterly Taskforce meetings, ensuring meetings are appropriately chaired and conducted in line with its terms of reference.

• Build and manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring Taskforce priorities speak to and advance the work of its members.

• Ensure that the Taskforce is at the forefront of work in the social impact entertainment space, helping provide coherence and guidance to work in this area.

• Keep abreast of and advise on industry developments in the social impact entertainment space, including engaging and managing relationships with other relevant industry groups or research projects.

• Ensure work of the Taskforce is objectives focused and evidence-led, with clear plans for delivery that are executed in line with agreed timelines and on budget.

• Provide written and verbal reports on progress for funders and governance stakeholders.

• Act as an ambassador for the Taskforce, representing it at external meetings and events

Essential Requirements

• Experience providing strategic, intellectual leadership in research or evaluation.

• Understanding and experience of measuring impact for complex, long-term programmes.

• Demonstrable evidence of managing multi-stakeholder initiatives.

• Analytical approach to gathering and breaking down information.

• Well-connected with ability to nurture relationships and secure buy-in from senior stakeholders across the sectors.

• Able to express ambitious ideas clearly and succinctly.

• Demonstrable ability to break down complex problems into smaller manageable components.

•Research:  Bringing together a rich mix of expertise to improve understanding of how entertainment impacts on audiences and shapes perceptions and beliefs.

•Network:  A matchmaking service connecting experts from the fields of research, entertainment and the social impact sector, to inspire new ways of thinking.

• Events: A year-round programme of events focused on exchanging ideas and improving collaboration by bringing together researchers, content creators and those with a range of lived experiences. OKRE as a hub of content would also communicate aligned stakeholder events.

• Funding: providing time and space for the development of innovative cross-sector ideas and collaborations.

Audiences

OKRE’s audiences are primarily professionals in entertainment, research and social impact. There is a public facing side to OKRE and an interest in maximising engagement to achieve our mission.

Research: organisations funding or undertaking research in science, social science, humanities and the arts.

Social impact: organisations whose primary focus is not research, but social impact and engagement related to research and direct lived experience. This includes charities, foundations, trusts, learned societies, museums and galleries. It also includes the corporate social responsibility departments of commercial organisations.

Entertainment: we work with those funding, representing and creating scripted, nonscripted & interactive content. This includes film, broadcast (live and streamed), games, immersive (AR/VR), podcasting, radio and social media original content.
